I am an eighteen-year-old student from China. I have been studying English since I was in primary school. I thought that I was good at English, but when I came to Corpus Christi I found that I still had problems. The English I learned in China was not enough. When I spoke English I always thought in Chinese and then translated into English. During my studies at ESLI at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, the best thing I have learned is to think in English. Also, I learned how to write essays ESLI that are different from those I wrote in China. The teachers in ESLI are very patient. They have helped me to improve my English skills. I believe the things I have studied in ESLI will help me a lot when I study in the university.

From the start of the program, I felt welcomed by the director of the program. The faculty does a great job in teacing grammar, writing, reading, and other intensive skills that are needed to prepare us for the university setting. Furthermore, the program is enjoyable because we learn about culture and other life skills. We had a great time going on field trips that taught us valuable lessons. Therefore, I am really thankful for having the opportunity to be a part of the ESLI program.
