It is a new experience for an international student to live and study in America. My name is Martin Gallardo and I am a student from Peru. I have been studying at the ESLI Program at McNeese since January 2005. I have met a lot of foreign students who came with the same purpose as I, and it was to improve our English Skills. I became friends with most of them, and we talk to each other about our cultures. Furthermore, we have to understand each other and work as classmates. Another good experience at ESLI was that I really improved my English skills by listening to my teachers speak both when they complimented and instructed me. Also, communicating with them helped me increase my vocabulary and get used to the speed that they normally speak. Overall, ESLI was one of the best courses I ever had because of the new friends I made and my very helpful teachers who helped me understand English better. Marcos Martin Gallardo - Peru

My name is Lorena and I am from El Salvador, Central America. I have been attending McNeese State University as an ESLI student since fall 2003. Although I am deaf from my left ear, I have enjoyed my experience and learned a good deal of English. I am now able to speak and write in English. The staff is composed of outstanding teachers that make learning English as a second language an enjoyable task. Lorena Mendez, El Salvador
